I have participated in Le Tour de Femme all-womens bike ride in years past, but this year has an entirely new meaning to me. In Dec 2016, I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Shortly following my diagnosis, I underwent 2 surgeries (Nov 2016 and Jan 2017), followed by various rounds of chemotherapy (Jan 2017 to June 2017).
I continued to ride throughout my treatments as well as still participate in my usual bootcamp classes following a long surgical recovery of 6-8 weeks. I also maintained a pretty busy work schedule and only missed work for actual treatment days, because I was not cleared to work on those days (doctor's orders!).
I want to especially raise awareness around ovarian cancer and for people to understand it doesn't matter how "young" or "in shape" you are to be impacted by this disease.
I want to continue to raise awareness and educate women around women's cancers. Please consider donating so we can kick cancers ass.
I hate cancer!!!
Love, Kiersten
