Six years ago I rode my first le Tour de Femme, my sister Maureen convinced me I could do it, and surprise, surprise, I did! At first it was just a fun excuse for me to go to NC and ride with my sister, but in the spring of 2016 our mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, so the ride took on a different meaning for us. We started a team, Peg's Peddlers, in honor of our mom. In November 2017 we lost our beautiful mother to cancer, and now the ride means even more to us. We will ride each year as Peg's Peddlers, helping to raise money for cancer research in the hope that other families won’t have to watch a loved one battle cancer. We ride with love and honor of our mom, Peg Shields.
